GG Atlas

A practical tool workflow

How to use Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era tools

Olden Era tools split into two useful paths: preparing to play and creating a map template. Start with faction and hero reference for a match. Move to a simulator for a particular comparison, or to an editor when the map itself is the project.

Workflow reviewed

Start with the step you need. These are examples, not a ranking or a required tool stack. Listing details stay connected to current GG Atlas records; reachability is not proof of compatibility or safety.

Step 1

Choose a faction

When: When learning a faction or checking a hero's options.

Look up the units, abilities and progression you expect to use. A database explains the available pieces; it does not decide which strategy fits the map and opponents.

Step 2

Prepare for battle

When: Before comparing a specific hero setup or battle assumption.

Use a planner or simulator to isolate the choice. Check the version, units and bonuses in the model before treating its result as relevant to your match.

Step 3

Explore the map

When: When learning what a scenario or template contains.

Use the reference to understand the information the map exposes. Keep map preparation separate from information you would not ordinarily have during a competitive game.

Step 4

Create maps

When: If you want to design or edit a random-map template.

Sketch the zone structure, validate the template and test a generated map before sharing it. Choose a browser editor for a quick draft or inspect a desktop editor's file workflow when you need it.
